Tässäpä teille jotain Downin ja Crowbarin jalanjäljissä kulkevaa. My Uncle The Wolf on nimittäin southern rock -ikoni Jimmy Bowerin (Eyehategod, Down, Superjoint Ritual) tuottama poppoo Brooklynista, New Yorkista.
Least Amount of Man etenee tasaisen ja raskaan rytmikkäästi, muttei kuitenkaan nouse erityiseksi hittiveisuksi. Levyllä on melko monta keskitempoista ja jopa hidasta, tunnelmallisempaa palaa, sillä seuraavaksi jyristellään kunnolla vasta kuutosraita The Same as Firen merkeissä. A Siren's Chorus ja The Cross ovat myös levyn raskaampaa antia, jotain tunnelmaltaan murskaavaa ja massiivista.
My Uncle the Wolf on mainiosti potkiva uusi tuttavuus kaikille niille, jotka pitävät stonerista, southern-henkisyydestä ja jopa sludgesta. Kaikille Down-faneille tämä on ainakin ehdoton tutustumisen kohde.
In the footsteps of Down and Crowbar comes My Uncle The Wolf, produced by southern rock icon Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod, Down, Superjoint Ritual), hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Heavy as all shit, MUtW are stonery, sludgy and loud as as southern riot.
Opener March of the Hung starts things off with such a barrage of force that it indeed hangs neck to neck with Down on any day. Least Amount of Man carries a steady, heavy rhythm but doesn't really stand out as anything all that special. There's quite a bit of mid-tempo and slower, moody numbers in the mix here, as the next real steamrolling stomper is number six, entitled The Same as Fire. A Siren's Chorus and The Cross add to the heavyweight numbers, with crushing moodiness interwoven into the mass.
For anyone who likes stoner rock, southern dirge or even sludge, My Uncle the Wolf offers up a healthy serving of southern comfort, complete with a bed of thorns and a meal of whoopass. Give these guys a shot if you like your Down, as that is the closest comparison that would be fair in this case.
