Italia ei ole aiemmin osoittautunut uskottavan hard rockin kotimaaksi, mutta kerta se on ensimmäinenkin. Tällä kertaa jopa englannin kielen ääntäminen on kelvollisesti kohdallaan. Hyvä niin, koska yleismaku on eurooppalaisen sijaan amerikkalainen kuin omenapiirakka. Motley Cruen tai Skid Row'n kaltaisiin raskassarjalaisiin on vielä matkaa, mutta taitaapa Fuel From Hell nousta sinne LA Gunsin, Kick Traceen tai Choirboysin kannuksille.
Energialataus, likainen soundi ja draivi tekevät tästä levystä täydellisen bilelevyn. Vokaalit alkavat tosin tylsistyttää ennen pitkää, sillä laulu on kautta levyn hieman yksipuolista. Biisinkirjoitus on kohtuullisen laadukasta, mutta mihinkään erityisen teräviin nousuihin ja laskuihin eivät kappaleet kuuntelijaa johdata. Vokalisti E.K. Krawallin ulkomainen aksentti puskee läpi helpossa, lähes puhutussa pätkässä Spinning Wheel -kappaletta. Kun laulu muuttuu nopeammaksi ja raivokkaammaksi, tuota aksenttia ei oikeastaan edes erota. Biisit ovat väriltään ja vibaltaan valitettavasti hieman liian homogeenisiä. Kun kakku kerta toisen jälkeen leivotaan samaan muottiin, alkaa luottamus leipuriin murtua; sama resepti toimii vain aikansa.
Yleisfiilis levyllä on kuitenkin eloisa ja värähtelevä, eikä Fuel From Hellin nuorekasta energisyyttä voi olla huomaamatta. Seuraavalle levylle toivoisin hieman luovuutta biisinkirjoitukseen. Monipuolisemmat laulutkin piristäisivät pakettia kummasti. Pullat ovat hyvin uunissa, mutta kypsiä ne eivät vielä ole.
Credible hard rock from Italy? This is a first for me! Even the English pronunciation and enunciation are pretty damn good most of the time. This isn't European in flavor at all, it's as American as apple pie gets. While not on the scale of heavyweights like Motley Crue or Skid Row, Fuel From Hell is at least on the level of an LA Guns or Kick Tracee or Choirboys.
High-packed energy, trashy in sound and driven, this album is perfect party music. The vocal approach becomes kind of stagnant after awhile, where the tone is the same throughout the album. Songwriting-wise, if this album were a rollercoaster ride it the track would be pretty meat and potatoes basic akin to the local yearly carneval, without Disneyland thrills and peak highs. It's on the easy, near-spoken part of Spinning Wheel that vocalist E.K. Krawall's foreign accent comes through strong. Yet, for the most part, when the vox are fast and furious, that same accent can barely be heard. The songs themselves are problematic in that they are all so homogenous that there is very little separation in vibe or color and flavor between them. It gets old really fast when using the same old cookie-cutter to bake ever song with.
Still, the overall vibe is lively and vibrant, and the youthful energy of Fuel From Hell can't be dismissed. More creativity in song arrangements next time, guys. Plus, a more diverse vocal approach really could help the product, so take that to heart. Nice package, just a bit raw still.
