Sunn O))), tuo jättiläismäisten äänivallien isä ja äiti, heittää ilmoille tähänastisen uransa synkimmän albumin, Black Onen. Kauhuleffan soundtrackiksi sopiva avausraita Sin Nanna, kuolevan rauhattomuutta mallintava It Took the Night To Believe, sairaalloisen vähäeleinen Cry For The Weeper ja tiheän klaustrofobinen päätösraita Bathory Erzsébet saavat aikaan synkän ja suloisen lopputuloksen. Ei muuta kuin linjat kuumiksi ja soittotoiveita Kiss FM:n suuntaan.
Black One on kaiketi myös bändin kaikkien aikojen kokeellisin albumi, toisin sanoen edeltäjiään monipuolisempi kokemus. Jotenkin kummassa se onnistuu olemaan myös synkempi ja pahaenteisempi. Uusi kokoonpano, joka sisältää mm. sellaisia kavereita kuin Oren Ambarchi, Wrest, Malefic ja John Weise, tarjoaa meille seitsemän giganttisesti pörisevää raitaa. Merkittävää siinäkin mielessä, että aiemmat Sunn O))) -teokset ovat sisältäneet keskimäärin vain neljä raitaa. Pari levyn raidoista onkin bändille epätyypillisen lyhyitä, mutta tämä seikka ei kuitenkaan häiritse kokonaisuutta millään tavalla. Päinvastoin, ne tuovat levylle terveen suolahappoista ilmapiiriä. Hengittäkäähän syvään, piltit.
Black One on ruma kuin elefantin perse, joten eiköhän levy vähintäänkin pistä suolesi solmulle. Kerran maailma on niin täynnä paskaa, moinen ilmiö on enemmän kuin tervetullut.

Perhaps the most 'experimental' Sunn O))) album to date, Black One is a tad more diverse than it's predecessors. In some unimaginable way it's
also darker and more sinister. Featuring a new roster of albeit unknown guest musicians in the form of Oren Ambarchi, Wrest, Malefic and John
Weise, this new opus by Sunn O))) gives us a huge 7 cuts to drone out to. This is remarkable in that on par Sunn O))) albums have been in the 4 song range. A few cuts are rather short for this band's usual offerings, yet it doesn't take away from the overall package in any way. On the
contrary, it's a welcome break of fresh hydro-chloride! Yep, breathe in deep, folks!
Ugly as an elephants ass, Black One is sure to get your bowels moving if nothing else. With this world being as full of shit as it is that's not a bad thing.
