Nashville Pussy on yksinkertaisesti maailman yksi loistavimmista komediarock-yhtyeistä. American Dog sun muut eivät loppupeleissä kuitenkaan ole yhtä hauskoja tai hyvin toteutettuja projekteja. Sanottakoon tosin, että yhtye nimeltä D.A.D. hallitsi alkuaikoinaan tätä genreä kuninkaan ottein.
Riemukkaasta Pussy Time -avausraidasta hoopoon, mutta toimivaan Going Down Swingingiin, koomiseen Nutbush City Limitsiin ja rikollisen hauskaan Meaner Than My Mamaan Nashville Pussy lyö taululle lyömättömät lukemat tällä saralla. Musiikissa on rosoa ja se todella rokkaa. En tosin ole juurikaan kuunnellut Nashville Pussya ennen tätä, vaan Get Some on itselleni ensimmäinen varsinainen kosketus bändiin. Tästä näkökulmasta en siis voi vertailla levyä ryhmän aikaisempiin tuotoksiin, mutta levyn vahvuus ja kuunneltavuus ovat sitä luokkaa, että lätty pyörii omassa soittimessani vielä useaan otteeseen. Albumi ei siis voi olla huono. Tässä tapauksessa voisin sanoa, että Get Some - edes rennon meiningin vuoksi.
Nashville Pussy is one of the great comedy rock acts out there, period. Others in this genre like American Dog aren't quite as funny or as well-orchestrated. That said, D.A.D. used to be high in the saddle in this slant in their early years and it could have been argued that they were the kings in their day.
From the rambunctious opener Pussy Time to the goofy yet effective Going Down Swinging to the slapstick Nutbush City Limits to the gutbusting fun of Meaner Than My Mama, Nashville Pussy gets the job done in flying colors. The music has a definite edge and rocks without question. Since I haven't really listened all that much to Nashville Pussy before this is my first real introduction to the band. From that standpoint I can't compare past efforts so all I have is the strength of the tunage present here and judging by listenability alone Nashville Pussy manages to get time on my CD player without tiring itself out. That in itself means that the music can't be bad. Let me say that a bit differently: Get Some? Yeah, you should.
