LA Guns on ollut maisemissa jo lähes 20 vuotta, mutta eipä bändi ole kauhean isoksi nimeksi koskaan yltänyt. Tietty bändi iski ensimmäisillä lätyillään glam rock -boomin alkuun ja keräsi sen turvin jonkin verran huomiota, mutta sittemmin yhtye menetti aluksensa hallinnan. Bändin kokoonpano on kokenut paljon muutoksia, eikä edes bändin perustajajäsen Tracii Guns ole enää tänä päivänä porukassa mukana. Orkesteri on myös heitetty tai lähtenyt pois aiemmasta kotipesästään, Spitfire Recordsilta. Hemmot ovat kokeneet vuosien aikana paljon vastoinkäymisiä. Miten LA Guns voikaan vuonna 2005?

Tales From The Strip on itsestään selvästi hard rock -levy. Se ei ole mikään Motley Crüe - Dr. Feelgood -tyylin lätty, eikä pärjää Crashdietin debyytille, mutta yhtä kaikki se tarjoilee kelvollista raskasrockia. Hollywood's Buring on levyn kohokohta, Rox Baby Girl on keskitasoa parempaa materiaalia, kuten myös Shame. Mitään megaviboja levy ei siis tarjoa - hyvää muttei loistavaa. Kuten kaurapuuro suomalaisten aamupalana, tämäkin tekee tarvittavat temput, mutta raivohulluna ei kukaan tämäntasoista kamaa metsästä. Tai kenties janoat sisuksiisi juuri tätä. Onhan Motley Crüelta julkistumassa uusi levy, ja Crashdietin fantastinen debyytti ehti tuomaan skeneen sen tarvitsemaa potkua.

LA Guns have been around for nearly 20 years but they've never really made it "big" for whatever reason. Sure, their first couple of albums came at the boom period of sleaze/glam rock and garnered a fair bit of attention but then the ball dropped. LA Guns have gone through tons of line-up changes, even to the point of founding member Tracii Guns not even being in the band at this stage. Seemingly, the band has been dropped from or has left their last home for the past few years, that being Spitfire Records. It hasn't been an easy road for these guys through the years. What's the deal with LA Guns in 2005?

Tales From The Strip is a hard rock album, no bones about it. It's not a Motley Cure Dr. Feelgood kind of ride nor is it quite as good as Crashdiet's debut, but it is a decent hard rock album. Hollywood's Buring is a hilite and Rox Baby Girl showcases some of this album's best material, whereas Shame manages to rock better than average. Overall I didn't get any mega-vibes from this record. It's good but it's not great. It's like oatmeal porridge in the morning here in Finland: we all know it gets the job done but it isn't gourmet stuff that you go after like a rabid dog. Unless you've been on a fast, that is, and no ones fasting right now with the tease of a new Motley Crue album on the horizon and the fantastic Crashdiet debut bringing back some major muscle to the sleaze rock scene.
