Meillä on tässä melko tuntematon kitaristi, joka on koonnut levytysprojektiinsa melko vaikuttavan listan sessiomuusikkoja. Siitäkin huolimatta, että varhainen Ozzy -basisti Bob Daisley ja Kiss -rumpali Eric Singer ovat pulkassa, Peter Scheithauerin Stream -projekti ei onnistu välttymään keskinkertaisuuden kirouksilta.
Rehellisyyden nimessä, David Glen Eisleyn laulusuoritus kuulostaa ummehtuneelta ja tylsältä, vaikka onkin teknisesti kunnossa. Sovitukset eivät vie biisejä minnekään ja kuulijalle jää tuntemus, että musiikista puuttuu jotakin hyvin keskeistä. Minusta se johtuu kelvottomasta biisinkirjoitustaidosta. Syntilistaan voidaan lisätä vielä keskinkertaiset kertosäkeet (jotka riivasivat myös Rob Rockin kakkosalbumia) ja jopa satunnaiset hölmöt sanotukset. Musikantit osaavat asiansa ja sinne tänne levylle on eksynyt myös joitain oikein mainioita riffejäkin, mutta jotain tästä kaikesta selkeästi puuttuu.
Levy pursuaa AOR -vaikutteita, mutta kuulostaa kaikkiaan hyvin geneeriseltä. Sanoisin, että levyn huippuhetki osuu Snake Eyed Moon -biisin kertosäkeen siltaan, jonka melodia tarraa korvaan. Kun levyn hyvät kohdat jäävät näin vähään, biisien tekijä on pahasti pulassa. Lähes yhtä hyvä tosin instrumentaali The Other Side. Eiköhän tuo tuolla selväksi tullut.
Bonusraitojen äänitystaso ja soundit ovat suttuiset ja hieman ihmettelenkin, miksei niitä remiksattu ennen levylle laittamista. Keskinkertaisuutta kaikki tyynni, eikä levyä pelasta keskivertoarvosanaltakaan mikään.
Here we have a fairly unknown guitarist who has gathered a rather impressive cast of session musicians for his album. Regardless of the fact that Bob Daisley from the early Ozzy years is on board along with Eric Singer from Kiss, Peter Scheithauer's project can't be saved from
sounding mediocre.
In all honesty, the vocals of David Glen Eisley sound very stagnant and dull even though they are tecnically alright. The musical arrangements
don't get anywhere and the songs leave you with a feeling that says something very integral was missing. I sum it up to songwriting falling short of the mark. Add to that not enough good choruses (which plagued the 2nd Rob Rock album also) and some silly lyrics every now and then. The musicianship is fine and there are even a few real nice riffs here and there but it's all missing that X-factor.
Lots of AOR influences throughout, but very generic sounding overall. I'd say the hilite is the pre-chorus to Snake Eyed Moon, which has a very catchy melody. But if that's the highspot on the album, then son, you are in trouble way over your head. A close second is the instrumental The Other Side. You get my point, I'm sure.
The recording and sound quality of the bonus tracks is very stuffy and I'm suprised that they weren't remixed before being laid on tape. Nothing can save this album from getting nailed with a mid-grade.
