Bluesin ja stoner rockin elementtejä sekoittava The Greystone Helsingistä on uusi bändi, jossa hippivibat voi aistia ja groovekin on hallussa. Saan ensimmäisen mielikuvani biisistä Desert Blues, josta puolet kuulostaa JB-aikakauden Spiritual Beggarsilta lungeimmillaan, tai ehkä jopa Spice-aikakauden Ad Astra -albumin Mantralta. On Electricillä jotain Monster Magnet -värinääkin, kuten vaikkapa I'm On Firessä, jossa soi Dave Wyndorff & Co.:n psykedelia. Sopivasti surisevat kitarat pukevat albumin sointia. Levyllä on melkoisesti blues-iisiyttä ja rento ilmapiiri, melkolailla samaan tyyliin kuin vaikkapa Truckfightersissä.

Hyvää taustamusaa, mutta muutaman pyörityksen jälkeen en vieläkään kuule tappobiisiä, joka erottuisi muista. The Greystonella on hyvä tunnelmanhallinta ja fiilis, levy on mielenkiintoinen, mutta ei mitenkään häkellyttävä.

Mixing elements of blues and stoner rock, The Greystone from Helsinki are a new band with a hippie shake and a firm grasp on groove. The first association that came to mind was in the song Desert Blues, half of which sounds a lot like JB-era Spiritual Beggars at their mellowest, or perhaps even Spice-era Mantra from the Beggars' Ad Astra album. There are some Monster Magnet vibes here also, such as I'm on Fire, which rings out with psychedelia much in the vein of Dave Wyndorff and Co. Fuzzy guitars, but not too fuzzy, adorn the album. Quite a bit in the way of blues easiness and a laid-back kind of atmosphere for much of this album. Think along the lines of Truckfighters and you are not far off.

Good for background music, but after a few spins I still don't hear a killer track stand out from the rest. Good moodiness and emotion overall though. Interesting, but not mind-blowing.
