Tässäpä losangelesilainen, rennon retrosti rokkaava nelikko, jonka soundissa on vaikutteita myös psykedeliasta ja hippiliikkeeltä. Ancestorsin rauhalliset biisit saavatkin The Byrdsin kuulostamaan Metallicalta. Toisin sanoen meininki on lähempänä fiilistelyä kuin rockia sinänsä.

Ancestorsin musiikissa on jonkinlaista Hawkwind-vibaa, mutta bändi veistelee lastuja vieläkin hienovaraisemmin. Instrumenttivalikoimasta löytyy jopa moog-syntikka, mikä kertoo soundista jotain. Urit, piano, modulaarisyntikka, basso ja rummut soivat levyllä myös. Aivan oikein, ei lainkaan kitaraa. Metallia tämä ei siis ole. Levyllä on vain kolme biisiä, joista viimeinen, nimeltään Epilogue, on selvästi täyteläisin onnistuen olemaan jopa oudolla tavalla raskas veisu. Muistuttaa tässä suhteessa etäisesti Funeral for a Friendia Dream Theaterin A Change of Seasonsilta.

Jos kaipaat annoksen 60-lukua, tämä saattaa olla sinun kamaasi. Jos diggailet kuitenkin enemmän 70-luvun rankempaa ja synkempää vibaa, niin skippaa tämä.

This quintet of LA retro easy rockers border a bit on the psychedelic and a whole lot on the hippie peace and love movement. With songs that make The Byrds sound like Metallica in comparison, Ancestors play tender and mellow throwback rock musique. Indeed, this is more the stuff of connosieurs than it is rawk per se.

There's a bit of that Hawkwind vibe here, but this is way mellower in comparison. We even have a moog here as one of the instruments, which should tell you something. Organs, pianos, modular synths, bass and drums. That's right, no guitars. Metal this ain't. There are only three songs here, and the last one called Epilogue has more meat on the bone than the others and even manages to be oddly heavy in a way. Kind of like Funeral For A Friend off of Dream Theater's Change Of Seasons in a distant sort of way.

If you like your 60's, then this is for you. If you rather would dig the more harsh and dark vibe of the 70's then skip this one.
