Thrash-henkistä, progressiivisluonteista stoner rockia? Miltäpä kuulostaisi tuo kuvaukseksi saksalaisesta Beissertista? Vankka, sludgehtava ja poikkeava bändi Beissert on joka tapauksessa. Laulaja Beissert, joka tunnettiin ennen Gorilla Monsoonista (joka taas on kuuluisan, jo edesmenneen painijan nimi 1970-luvun WWWF:stä), ulvoo kuin Banshee konsanaan. Bändin musiikki on monivivahteista ja -puolista ja keinahtelee kaoottisesta melodiseen ja takaisin The Pusherin aikana. Tavallaan tämä ryhmä muistuttaa minua Angel Dustin aikaisesta Faith No Moresta.

Uphillfight Againt The Sun on yksi levyn huippuhetkistä ilkeän botnensa ja vimmatun rähinän ylle heittäytyvine melodioineen. Kiekon saksaksi lauletut eivät kuitenkaan toimi minulle, mutta kenties joillekin muille ne toimivat. Sludgehtava puoli ja jopa noisecore-elementit saavat paljon jalansijaa, mikä tarkoittaa sitä, että Beissert on kovaääninen bändi. Sotkuinen tuotanto antaa The Pusherille tietynlaista indie-fiilistä. Durch Die Haare In Das Kindin kertosäe on lähes korni, mutta toisaalta myös pirullisen tarttuva, eikä biisin riffiäkään voi potkimattomaksi kutsua. Aal Ins Gekroese on aggressiivinen muistuttaen keskiverto Relapse Records -bändistä. Yggdrasilin kertosäe on popahtava ja riitasointuinen samanaikaisesti, ja uskokaa pois, se tarttuu myös korvien väliin. Päätösraita Gedranke & Erinnerung muistuttaa jälleen kuuntelijaa siitä, kuinka pitelemätön ja rajoitukseton Beissert todella on, ja heittää päälle vielä yhden komean kertosäkeen.

Tässäpä sitä hyvin outo bändi. Beissert todellakin rokkaa ja bändillä on vieläpä jotain täysin omaa. Kannattaa tarkastaa...

Thrashy, progressive-minded stoner rock? How's that for a description of Germany's Beissert? Chunky, sludgy, somewhat of an anomaly, Beissert is different for sure. Band vocalist Beissert, formerly of Gorilla Monsoon (coincidentally the name of a famous bygone wrestler from the 1970's WWWF), wails like a banshee to be sure. The band is ecclectic and diverse in their music, flowing from chaotic to melodic within the span of The Pusher. In a way, these guys almost remind me distantly of Faith No More from the Angel Dust era.

Uphillfight Againt The Sun is one of the standout tracks here with a vicious bottom end and spunky melody atop the frantic rumble overall. The songs that are sung in German don't work for me, but to each their own. Heavy on the sludge and even the noisecore element to some degree, Beissert is LOUD. Messy production gives The Pusher an indie feel to a greater degree. Durch Die Haare In Das Kind's chorus is almost corny, but also catchy as hell, in addition to a kicking riff. Aal Ins Gekroese is aggressive as shit, and reminds me of the average fare from Relapse Records artists on par. Yggdrasil has a chorus that is poppy and almost disharmonic at the same time, and believe you me, you will remember it. Album closer Gedranke & Erinnerung once again reminds the listener how off the hook and artistically boundless Beissert really is, topped with another good chorus.

A very strange band, this one. Beissert rocks for sure, and they do have something all their own too. Worth checking out...
